ITV1 bosses are reportedly set to create their own 'Big Fat Gypsy' craze with a new show following circus performers. According to the Daily Star, telly bosses are looking at a new idea for a fly-on-the-wall show which would follow the Darnell family, who have been in the business for generations.
Looking at the day to day lives of the performers including their work, culture, family and relationships, the tabloid claims ITV hope the show will prove as big a hit as My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings did for Channel 4 earlier this year.
The new series promises an "intimate view of circus life" when it airs later this year for a special one-off episode. If the series proves a success it'll be turned into a fully fledged series, the paper suggests.
"Everyone saw the success Channel 4 had with 'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings' and we all want a bit of it," a source told the tabloid. "Gypsies have been done to death now so it's time to look at another aspect of British life.
"The circus is a fascinating world and we think viewers will be gripped."
