Set in and around the corridors of power, Bodyguard tells the fictional story of David Budd, a heroic but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch (RaSP) of London’s Metropolitan Police Service.

When he is assigned to protect the ambitious and powerful Home Secretary Julia Montague, Budd finds himself torn between his duty and his beliefs. Responsible for her safety, could he become her biggest threat?

Bodyguard airs at 9PM on Sundays on BBC One.

Bodyguard cast

David Budd (Richard Madden) – Sergeant David Budd serves as a Principal Protection Officer (PPO) in the Royal and Specialist Protection Command of London’s Metropolitan Police (RaSP).

Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes) – The Right Honourable Julia Montague is Home Secretary and a Conservative MP. Divorced, Julia lives alone in her London constituency.

Bodyguard spoilers

In tonight’s extended sixth final episode, Principal Protection Officer David Budd has made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the attack on the Home Secretary, but his enquiries have put him in mortal danger.

With the blamed pinned on himself, the clock is ticking with no one left who believes him. David attempts to prove his innocence but the evidence against him begins to stack up…

SPOILERS: In the finale, it was revealed how Chief Superintendent Lorraine Craddock had been helping Luke Akins, an organised crime boss, take out the Home Secretary who really was dead.

Meanwhile, Nadia, was revealed as the person who had built the bombs: “I built the device. I built all the bombs. You all saw me as a bored, oppressed Muslim woman. I am an engineer, I am a Jihadi.”
