The One Direction singer will continue his solo efforts with new song First Time, featuring French Montana.

The song will be available to download and stream from Friday, August 24.

It’ll be Liam’s first new music since breaking up with girlfriend Cheryl.

The pair, who have baby son Bear together, announced they were splitting after two and a half years together earlier in 2018.

They said in a joint statement: “We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”

In a message to fans posted to Twitter tonight, Liam followed news of the single with details about his upcoming debut album.

“As you may know, the last few months have seen some big changes for me …I looked at some of the songs on my album which were done a while ago and they felt from another age. I’m determined for my debut album to truly represent me,” he explained.

Liam continued: “I’m now back in the studio working hard to finalise the final few new songs on the record -I’m genuinely excited about the music I’m writing and recording and I can’t wait for it to be ready for you all.

“In the meantime, this EP is a collection of songs that I’m really proud of and want you all to hear…tell me what you think. As always, thanks for your support – it means the world to me.”

Meanwhile, Cheryl has reportedly revealed her own plans for a music comeback.

The Girls Aloud and former X Factor judge is set to release a new album soon, the first since 2014’s Only Human.

The album’s release will follow two singles, according to Cheryl who spilled the news while filming new TV show The Greatest Dancer.

An audience member shared on Twitter: “3 Things we’ve learnt about #C5 from @CherylOfficial at #GreatestDancer audition.

“1) There will be at least 2 singles released, 2) First single is upbeat, second single has ‘Call My Name’ vibes, 3) One will be released in October.”

Last week saw the BBC announce that Cheryl would join Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse as ‘Dance Captains’ on its new talent show.

The Greatest Dancer aims to find the UK’s best dancer across a wide variety of genres. It’s slated to begin in 2019 on BBC One on Saturday nights.
