According to reports, bosses are putting a massive £20 million into the series.

This year Simon Cowell will be joined by new X Factor 2018 judges Ayda Williams, Robbie Williams and Louis Tomlinson on the panel.

Simon said of the new line up: “This new panel is all about optimism, everyone has a real passion for finding a new star. The three new judges bring a whole new energy and I’m excited.”

Announced last week, it’s claimed that Robbie & Ayda will be pocketing £10 million for their appearances on the show.

One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is set to scoop £4 million for taking part, according to the Daily Mirror newspaper.

Sharon Osbourne will also be back for the new series, although only appearing in the live shows.

“This is costing ITV a huge expense, it will be one of the most expensive shows on TV,” a source said. “Robbie and Ayda initially wanted £12million but ITV cut a hard bargain.”

Insiders claim that the channel hope the husband and wife pair will be a “ratings hit”.

“Everyone, including Simon, thinks it’s going to be a success,” the source added.

Speaking at a press conference to launch the series last week, Robbie joked there were “millions of reasons” he signed up.

“Millions, there are literally millions of reasons to be on this panel for this season,” he told the media.

Alongside the new judges, more changes to the series are said to include the bootcamp stage being axed.

Instead, acts will head straight from the auditions – which are back in the arenas – to the six chair challenge.

The X Factor will air on ITV in the autumn.
