The X Factor is getting a trio of new judges – and here are the favourites to take a seat on the panel.
ITV confirmed this week that alongside Simon Cowell, three new judges will join this year’s series while Sharon Osbourne will act as a fifth judge for the live shows.
Both Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh have quit the series, the channel confirmed.
Louis, who has been on the show for 13 years, said: “I’ve had a fantastic 13 years on The X Factor but the show needs a change and I’m ready to leave.
“I’m looking forward to another series of Ireland’s Got Talent, going back to my day job as a manager, writing my memoirs and seeing the world!”
Sharon Osbourne added: “I can’t wait to get back to the judges’ desk. I love the new format.”
Show bosses have described the change as ‘the start of a new era’ for the show, which will air its 15th series this year.
Amelia Brown, Managing Director at programme makers Thames, said: “I am really excited about all the ideas we have for the coming series including, of course, the new judging panel.”
As yet, the names of the new (or returning) judges have not been confirmed.
But 1D’s Louis Tomlinson is odds-on to be one of them.
The One Direction star has long been linked with a return to the show, and following Louis Walsh’s shock exit, bookies Ladbrokes make him just a 4/6 shot to get the gig.
Rita Ora and Kylie Minogue are also considered contenders, or it’s a 3/1 shot that Olly Murs joins.
He’s currently on rival show The Voice UK despite first finding fame on The X Factor in 2009.
It’s 9/2 Craig David takes up a seat of 6/1 we’ll see Robbie Williams on the show.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “The odds suggest there’s only one direction Louis Tomlinson is heading this summer – and it’s straight to the X Factor judging panel.”
