Sam Callahan appeared on The X Factor in 2013, mentored by Louis.

But speaking this week about his time under Louis’ leadership, Sam said: “I didn’t think he knew what he was talking about then.”

Speaking to FUBAR Radio’s Lizzie Cundy and Stephen Leng – prior to Louis’ shock exit tonight – Sam Callahan claimed the Irish music mogul was past his time: “I’d rather have someone young and hungry and a bit more with the times, [rather] than someone who can tell me about their credentials, but probably can’t keep up in this day and age.”

Sam Callahan continued to speak out about the state of the reality TV show which has seen a severe dip in ratings: “I think it needs a rest. The ratings and figures speak for themselves,

“We did 42 shows on the X Factor tour, the year after I know they did 14 and I don’t think they sold them all out.”

It was announced earlier today that Louis had QUIT The X Factor (again).

Louis Walsh said: “I’ve had a fantastic 13 years on The X Factor but the show needs a change and I’m ready to leave.

“I’m looking forward to another series of Ireland’s Got Talent, going back to my day job as a manager, writing my memoirs and seeing the world!”

Nicole Scherzinger has also left the show while Sharon Osbourne will only take part in the live shows this year.
