Could Gavin and Stacey return to TV for a brand new series?
The BBC show aired three series between 2007 and 2010 as well as a one-off Christmas special.
Originally starting on BBC Three, Gavin and Stacey gained a big following which saw it switch to BBC One for its final series.
The first ever episode had just 500,000 viewers but the last had a whopping 10.3 million, so it’s likely the BBC would definitely be happy to see the show back.
Now Gavin and Stacey fans’ wishes for more episodes could soon become true, according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes.
Following Ruth Jones’s revelation that her and James Cordon have been in talks, the bookies make it just a 5/4 shot that the hit TV show makes a comeback for at least one more episode.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “As far as the odds are concerned it looks like a comeback is what’s occurring for Gavin and Stacey.”
Rob Brydon, who played Uncle Bryn on the show, last year said he was hopeful of a potential new series or just a one off to celebrate ten years since the first show.
However it would depend on Ruth and James – who as well as starring in the show also wrote and created it – getting involved.
He told The Sun newspaper: “If James and Ruth want to do it then I think we’d all do it.
“In the past I wanted to leave it on a high but, mellowing in my old age, (a special) would be lovely because everyone likes each other.”
While nothing is confirmed yet, James previously told Gavin and Stacey fans to “watch this space” when it came to a potential comeback for the show.
“I’d love to do another Gavin & Stacey special. It’s just finding the time. My favourite was the last Christmas special,” he said. “Writing that with Ruth for two weeks was just brilliant, so I’d love to do another one. Watch this space.”
