BBC One boss wants to poach Paul O’Grady from ITV for his channel!

Paul O Grady

BBC One controller Danny Cohen is reportedly courting Paul O’Grady for a new chat show on the broadcaster. The telly host, who is currently on ITV1 as part of an £8 million deal, is said to be in talks to replace Jonathan Ross on BBC One in a new Friday night chat show.

It's bad news for Graham Norton.

An insider told the Daily Mail: "Paul and Danny got on very well, he really likes him. It is early days – but there are some ideas that are being considered.

"He has a wide fan base that covers all ages and even Lady Gaga says she’s a fan, which makes him particularly interesting to the Beeb."

56-year-old host of Paul O’Grady Live on Friday nights previously had a teatime talk show on Channel 4 before moving to Friday nights on ITV1 back in 2009.

The current series ends on July 8 and as yet hasn't been recommissioned.
