Series 2 of Marcella continued with fewer than 3 million viewers on ITV last night.
Written by Hans Rosenfeld and starring Anna Friel, Marcella returned to ITV last month for a brand new eight-part series.
3.7 million watched the opening episode in the 9PM hour but that dropped to 2.9 million last week and 2.7 million yesterday (Monday, March 5)
Marcella clashed with new BBC Two drama Collateral which concluded with its fourth episode.
Set over the course of four days, four-part series Collateral explores the spiralling repercussions surrounding the fatal shooting of a pizza delivery man. Refusing to accept this is a random act of senseless violence, tough and single-minded Detective Inspector Kip Glaspie (played by Carey Mulligan) is determined to discover if there is a darker truth.
The opening episode averaged 3.2 million before dropping to 2.5 million. The final part averaged 2.4 million viewers last night.
It was the soaps that topped the night, with Coronation Street averaging 7.1 million and 7.2 million for its two episodes. Emmerdale had 6.4 million.
On BBC One, EastEnders was watched by 5.9 million. Classic Mary Berry continued with 2.4 million (400,000 below last week) while MasterChef’s new series continued with 3.7 million viewers, down 100,000 on last Monday’s opener.
