Trauma cast and spoilers from ITV’s new drama series
New drama Trauma continues on ITV tonight but who’s on the cast and what’s it all about?
Trauma is a three-part psychological thriller centres on the lives of two fathers, Dan and Jon, whose lives collide when Dan’s 15-year-old son Alex is stabbed and tragically dies in the trauma department attended by high-achieving consultant Jon Allerton.
Devastated, heartbroken and pushed to the edge, Dan believes Jon is responsible for Alex’s death. As he strives for what he believes is justice, Dan begins to unpick the very fabric of Jon’s life as his own unravels in the wake of Alex’s killing.
Trauma is an intricate, fast-paced thriller that questions what makes a man good and explores what happens when the very institutions established to protect us and those who represent them, let us down.
Trauma spoilers
In the first episode, after a bad day at work, Dan Bowker arrives home drunk to discover that his 15-year-old son, Alex, has not come home and no one knows where he is. Meanwhile, Trauma surgeon Jon Allerton is at home celebrating his birthday when, despite being off duty, he is called into work. Jon’s patient is Dan’s son, Alex; he has been stabbed.
At the hospital, Dan is reassured by Jon, but when Jon is unable to save Alex, Dan can’t let go of the idea that the surgeon is responsible for the death of his son.
In episode two last night, the pressure continues to mount on Jon when Dan gets a job in the hospital and is seemingly everywhere Jon turns. As Dan pursues the truth through official means – a complaint to the hospital and enlisting the help of the police – Jon decides to take matters into his own hands and tries to enlist the help of Dan’s wife, Susie.
Meanwhile, unable to get what he perceives as justice from the authorities, Dan starts to unpick every aspect of Jon’s life.
In tonight’s final episode, having been failed by the authorities, Dan takes matters into his own hands to get to the truth.
