Just as Sky announce that it has won the rights to air the third series of Glee in the UK, the exec producer of the US hit has revealed some of the show's main characters will face the axe. The creator of the show however promised there would be fresh blood to fill the gaps.

Executive producer Ian Brennan told The Mirror: “We’d be missing a beat if we didn’t acknowledge a part of high school is graduating.

“This will give us a lot of new stuff to write in.”

The casualties could include Finn Hudson, Rachel Berry and Kurt Hummel.

But there will be new characters – and one of them from reality show The Glee Project, which started last night in America. The series will also air on Sky after it brought the exclusive rights to all things Glee.

Brennan said: “The reality show has cast a very exciting character, but I cannot tell you anything about them.”

Sky said: “We are thrilled – it is a perfect fit for us.”
