Cops were apparently asked to attend during filming for the latest episode.

They were called following a clash between an extra and the show’s cast and crew.

Jon Clark and Liam Gatsby are said to have been filming a scene when a background guest “became rowdy”.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Everything was going well, and as usual there were invited guests and extras around the set – but suddenly the atmosphere just changed.

“One of the men in the background became rowdy and couldn’t control his volume, and when he was asked to calm down became even more outspoken.”

The source revealed how show bosses intervened and called police, who escorted the man off the set.

“It was a nerve-wracking experience for everyone involved, and people were shaken afterwards,” the source added.

An TOWIE insider told the newspaper: “Unfortunately very occasionally incidents can occur and it’s very unpleasant, but everyone involved in the show acted professionally to make sure the team stayed safe.”

The Only Way Is Essex currently airs Sunday nights on ITVBe.
