But what time does it start and who’s on the cast?

Originally a theatrical production, Mrs Brown’s Boys is created, written by and starring Brendan O’Carroll as misbehaving matriarch Agnes Brown.

The television series features the regular cast of the stage production, including Brendan’s real-life wife as Cathy, his daughter Fiona O’Carroll as Maria, his son Danny O’Carroll as Buster and his sister Eilish O’Carroll as Winnie McGoogan.

Meanwhile, Damien McKiernan replaces Rory Cowan as Rory Brown while Jamie O’Carroll joins as Bono Brown.

In tonight’s New Year’s special, father Damien convenes a Neighbourhood Watch patrol to tackle the rising amount of crime in Finglas, but catching criminals isn’t necessarily something Agnes and Winnie are cut out to do.

Meanwhile Cathy has had yet another disastrous internet date, so Agnes takes some unorthodox steps to put her daughter’s man troubles to rest once and for all.

Grandad thinks the house is haunted, Cathy’s got a new internet date and Rory is undergoing plastic surgery. At least Agnes has been given a special Christmas tree from Buster Brady to cheer her up – what could possibly go wrong?
