X Factor 2017 contestant Benji Matthews is releasing a Christmas single.

The Cornish singer-songwriter controversially lost his chair at the six-chair challenge this year.

He had to take part in a three way sing off but was eliminated by Boys mentor Louis Walsh and was given the axe from the show.

Bouncing back, Benji has now written and produced a new single entitled Heartbreak At Christmas and it is being released independently on iTunes and other major digital sale platforms on 2nd December 2017.

A preview of the track was released on Benji Matthews Facebook page on November 16th and fans are super excited.

“Benji for xmas number one…Yay!” one encouraged

The song has already been nicknamed The X Factor (losers) Christmas single 2017 and could end up battling this year’s actual winner for Number 1.

Benji said: I’m so excited about this track I’ve never written a Christmas song before, I didn’t want to use all the old Christmas clichés and I wanted something fresh and different.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what people think of it, the comments I’ve had so far have been supportive and encouraging, I consider myself to be truly blessed to have so many kind followers and friends.”

During his time on The X Factor, Benji had impressed the show’s judges with his original songs.

Simon Cowell said he loved Benji’s original song Daydream and described him as a ‘little rough diamond that he would remember and said he was a great song writer’

Louis Walsh said Benji lit up when he started to sing and became a different person and said they had someone very good.

Sharon Osbourne described Benji as being a free person and somebody who does his own thing and she said she loved him from the moment he came in.

Nicole Scherzinger described Benji as very talented and said she loved his performance and his song and said his hair deserved its own Instagram account.
