The X Factor could be set for even more changes next year.
The current series has seen a major overhaul of the show, from acts being encouraged to sing their own songs to the sing-off being axed.
There have been just six weeks of live shows despite a record 16 contestants making it through to the final stages.
Ahead of the weekend’s final, Rylan Clark-Neal reckons that the series has paved the way for more originality going forward.
Following the success of acts like Rak-Su and Grace Davies, who have been singing their own songs, he told ITV’s This Morning: “It shows what the public want now. I’m not slating the show, but now it shows people love the original music.”
Rylan, a former X Factor finalist himself of course, added: “I think next year they could look at that and build on that a bit more, because it’s so lovely seeing people coming on week after week, like Simon says, smashing out number one songs.”
The current series of The X Factor concludes this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
Rak Su, Grace Davies and Kevin Davy White are through to this weekend’s grand final.
Right now, Rak Su are the favourites to win the competition but viewer votes alone will determine the winner on the night.
The X Factor 2017 returns on December 2 and 3, for the grand final live at the ExCel centre.
The final three will be singing live a number of times and there will be a host of guests, including Little Mix, P!nk and Sam Smith.
The X Factor 2017 final airs on Saturday night from 7:05PM and continues Sunday at 7:20PM.
