Grace Davies has been revealed as the winner of the first public vote on The X Factor.
Tonight saw the very first stage of the live shows of The X Factor 2017 with a brand new format.
The 16 contestants this year are performing on separate nights in their categories and this evening the Boys and Girls were first up.
After their debut performances live for the first time, the public vote opened.
In the format, this year there is no sing off and the results are on the same night, decided by the viewer poll alone.
Ranked bottom was Spencer Sutherland and he was therefore the one who was voted off The X Factor tonight.
But at the other end Grace Davies topped the public poll, host Dermot O’Leary revealed. The placings of the remaining Boys and Girls contestants were not disclosed.
This year, rather than a sing-off between the bottom acts, there will be a sing-off between the acts who topped the votes on Saturday and Sunday night.
Grace will therefore perform again on Sunday evening against the top ranked contestant in the Overs and Groups category. They will compete for a prize, which this week is a masterclass session with P!nk in New York.
Meanwhile, on Sunday there will also be another elimination as the lowest ranked of the Groups and Overs in the next vote is sent home.
A total of 15 now remain in the competition’s final stages ahead of Sunday’s show.
They are Simon Cowell’s Groups Rak-Su, The CutKelvins, Sean and Conor Price and wildcard Jack & Joel, Sharon Osbourne’s Girls Grace Davies, Rai-Elle Williams, Holly Tandy and wildcard Alisah Bonaobra.
Plus Louis Walsh’s Boys Lloyd Macey, Sam Black and wildcard Leon Mallett and Nicole Scherzinger’s Overs Kevin Davy White, Matt Linnen, Tracy Leanne Jefford and wildcard Leon Mallett.
The X Factor 2017 continues Sunday night on ITV from the earlier time of 7PM with the Overs and Groups performances.
Stormzy will be performing plus another contestant will be heading home.
