Nicole Caldwell battles nerves on The X Factor 2017 for a second time tonight.

Back at the auditions, 27-year-old pub singer Nicole Caldwell from Paisley, Scotland struggled with stage fright.

And so things were sure to be even worse when she took to the stage this evening in front of a live audience at Wembley Arena.

Singing for a place in the six chair challenge, Nicole chose to perform Alicia Keys’s If I Ain’t Got You.

“I’m going to try not to be nervous but I’m the most nervous person ever,” Nicole tells cameras before going on stage.

Moments into her performance, Simon Cowell stops the song and declares: “You look like you’re asleep up there, like you don’t want to be there.”

“I do want to be here, this has been one of the toughest things I’ve ever done,” Nicole responds before breaking down in tears.

“I just don’t feel like I’m good enough,” she tells Nicole Scherzinger.

Will Nicole make it through to the six chair challenge?

Tune in to The X Factor 2017 tonight at 8:15PM on ITV to find out.

Back at the room auditions, Nicole described herself as “the most nervous person in Scotland” as she stood in front of judges Simon, Nicole, Louis Walsh and guest judge Alesha Dixon.

“I didn’t have much confidence a couple of years ago,” said Nicole as she revealed she had lost 5 stone over the past two years to improve her self-esteem.

“Now it’s time to give myself a chance,” she added.

Although a full time singer, Nicole told the judges: “I’ve never done anything as big as this, it’s quite out my comfort zone.”

She then went on to belt out Prince’s Purple Rain for the panel to make bootcamp.

Alesha Dixon avised: “I think you need to start working on your showmanship. Working on how to connect with us, with an audience.

“It’s great when singers close their eyes because they’re feeling it, but we want to look them into them. Bring us your confidence.”

The X Factor 2017 airs Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV.
