Anthony Russell has a tough time from the judges on The X Factor 2017 tonight.
We first saw 27 year-old singer Anthony from Liverpool audition for the judges earlier this month.
Tonight sees the final round of bootcamp arena auditions as acts sing for a place at the Six Chair Challenge at Wembley Arena.
Each has chosen their own song in a bid to wow the judges, with Anthony picking Naughty Boy ft Beyonce’s Runnin’.
“I’m standing here trying to make something of myself, I hope you enjoy it Wembley,” Anthony says.
But Simon Cowell soon stops the track to say: “This was so manic, why don’t we just hear the chorus on your own, a capella?”
Will Anthony’s performance be good enough to make it through to the six chair challenge?
Tune in to The X Factor 2017 tonight at 8:15PM on ITV to find out.
Anthony is returning to the show a decade on from his very first audition when he was a teenager. At the time, Simon Cowell said no and advised Anthony he needed singing lessons.
Fast forward ten years and Anthony was back on The X Factor last moth at the room auditions, again singing for Simon, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne as well as Nicole Scherzinger.
His take on ‘Issues’ by Julia Michaels touched the judges.
“I really really loved it. I felt every word you were saying, you told the story of the song so well,” praised Sharon.
“You’ve got a good energy about you. You can interpret a song in your style and make it your version,” Simon said in a far more positive review than in 2007.
Anthony got four yeses and made it through to bootcamp this weekend.
The X Factor 2017 continues Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV.
