We saw Nicole Simpson singing for the judges at the room auditions last month, getting four yeses from the judges.

But she revealed to fans last week that she had quit the show.

Explaining her decision, Nicole posted to Twitter: “For those wondering where I was this weekend on X Factor Bootcamp I decided it wasn’t right for my career at this moment in time and withdrew myself from the show.

“I’m sworn to secrecy but I had other exciting opportunities I couldn’t say no to.

“I want everyone to know how thankful I am for all the support and love I’ve been shown over the past couple of weeks. ”

Nicole added: “Please trust I made the right decision and with or without the X Factor I promise to make you proud! Red”

Nicole – who also performs under the name ‘Red’ on YouTube – originally performed for Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland, Tulisa and Louis Walsh on the show six years ago.

The then 16-year-old made it to the top 15 girls but didn’t quite make the cut to judges’ houses.

The now 22-year-old musician from Glasgow Scotland returned to the show in September, telling cameras: “I’ve been singing my whole life, since I was four years old. My parents always said I could sing before I could talk.

“My ultimate dream is just to hear my songs on the radio, It’s absolutely everything to me.”
