X Factor 2017 contestant Sam Black broke down in tonight’s bootcamp.

This evening saw the contestants take on the first of two bootcamp challenges, the ‘Wall of Songs’.

All of this year’s successful auditionees race towards a wall containing 140 pieces of paper made up of 35 different songs.

Once the contestants pick their tracks, they meet up with the other three hopefuls with the same song to work on a group performance.

The four acts then sing for the judges who give an immediate yes or no to those they want to put through to the arena auditions.

Sam Black ended up in a group with Brad Howard, El’Tee and Elysa V and Sam Black after the four individually chose to sing Bruno Mars’ Locked Out Of Heaven from the wall.

But feeling the pressure, Sam struggled with the song and despite encouragement from his fellow contestants ended up walking off.

Brad told cameras: “Sam’s found it really hard to get his key right and is finding it really frustrating for him.”

Meanwhile, Sam said: “I feel like it’s literally just broken me. I’m not used to being under pressure. I feel stupid because I’m always happy, you know what I mean? The pressure’s got to me big time.

“I want to do well so bad but I just feel like I’m going to let everyone down so bad. If I get through today, it’ll be a dream come true.”

Eventually taking to the stage, the group performed their song after Sam tells the judges about his “nightmare of a day”.

However the performance falls apart before Simon Cowell decided to invite each of the contestants to perform individually a capella.

Eventually the panel decided to put all four of the group through.

The X Factor returns Sunday night at 7:30PM on ITV.
