16-year-old student Rai-Elle impressed The X Factor judges tonight – but is she ready for the competition?
Teenage student Rai-Elle is from Croydon where she lives with her family.
Rai-Elle told cameras: “I first started singing when I was 5 at church. I sing in the shower, at school, I sing everywhere I go.
“It’s going to be very nerve wrecking and exciting singing in front of the judges.”
“When I’m sitting at my desk in school all I’m thinking about is singing,” she continues, “It’s all I want to do.”
The teenager then burst into a cover of Awolnation’s Sail which got the judges smiling from behind the desk.
After the performance, Nicole Scherzinger branded the youngster “fearless”.
“You’re two years old up there and you’re very courageous to look at all of us,” she said before adding: “The only thing is you’re still so young, I’m not sure if you’re ready.”
Simon Cowell meanwhile compared Rai-Elle to a little canary that bites your hand off, adding: “I predict good things for you whatever happens.”
Despite the concern from the judges over her age, Rai-Elle still got four yeses through to bootcamp.
You can watch her audition in the video above.
More hopefuls on this evening’s show included 51-year-old Peter Warick from Northampton who arrived in the audition room with a cake and duo Afro-Swag who presented Simon Cowell with a special gift from Africa.
We also met Montenegro’s former Eurovision entry Slavko and runner up of The Voice of the Philippines’ Alisah Bonaobra, who has flown in from Manila, Philippines.
The X Factor 2017 continues Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
