Spencer Sutherland flew in from America to sing on The X Factor UK tonight.

And fortunately it was worth the lengthy trip.

Spencer is a 24-year-old singer from Ohio, USA who has left his home country for the very first time.

“The X Factor is better than any show we have in America,” he said. “This is my favourite show and I came all the way here for this.”

Spencer revealed he’s been sacked from all of his 15 jobs including an old people’s home where he was fired for spending too much time talking about Elvis to the residents.

He told cameras: “I’ve come to The X Factor because The X Factor is the show where the stars come from.

“This would be the ultimate break, this would be the biggest thing that’s’ ever happened to me in my life, it’s a dream.”

Now living in LA, where he sleeps on couches, Spencer said his family have vowed to fly out to join him in the UK if he made it through to bootcamp.

After singing Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On for the panel, there was a mixed reaction.

Simon Cowell said: “You’ve picked up some really corny habits I’m going to be honest with you. I would say it looked like you were coming into audition for one of Louis’ boybands.”

Sharon Osbourne added: “You’ve got every cliched move that’s been done in the last ten years.”

However despite the lukewarm reception, Spencer still got four yeses to make bootcamp.
