Nicole Simpson returned to The X Factor tonight having previously made bootcamp in 2011.

Nicole – who also performs under the name ‘Red’ on YouTube – performed for Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland, Tulisa and Louis Walsh on the show six years ago.

The then 16-year-old made it to the top 15 girls but didn’t quite make the cut to judges’ houses.

The now 22-year-old musician from Glasgow Scotland returned to the show tonight, hoping to go further.

“I’ve been singing my whole life, since I was four years old. My parents always said I could sing before I could talk,” Nicole told cameras.

She added: “My ultimate dream is just to hear my songs on the radio, It’s absolutely everything to me.”

Nicole performed Drake’s Just Hold On for the panel, this time made up of Louis, Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and guest judge Alesha Dixon.

The performance got Nicole four yeses through to bootcamp – but can she go any further this time around?

We’ll have to wait and see!

Meanwhile, Nicole wasn’t the only returning contestant on The X Factor 2017 tonight.

Tracy Leanne Jefford previously auditioned for The X Factor back in 2006 where she also made bootcamp. Having lost over 5 stone and gone through a divorce her life is very different but her passion for singing remains.

Like Nicole, Tracy also got four yeses seeing her through to bootcamp for a second time.

Elsewhere, other acts we met this evening included nervous youngster 17 -year-old student Benji Matthews who endeared himself to the judges with his adorable giggle before even singing, while 68-year-old Ronnie Parker is the oldest contestant of the night, singing Tina Turner’s Simply The Best.

Elsewhere, 25 year-old nursing home singer Russell Jones from Wales got flirting with Nicole Scherzinger and cheeky with the rest of the judges as he performed his take on The Jungle Book classic I Wanna Be Like You.

The X Factor 2017 airs tonight at 8PM on ITV.
