Nervous Rebecca Grace took on Kelly Clarkson on The X Factor 2017 at her first audition.
20-year-old Rebecca Grace from Essex was super worried about her audition – but she needn’t have been.
“I am so nervous!” was the first thing she told the judges.
Opening up about her confidence issues, Rebecca added: “When I listen to it back, the more you’re like ‘I’ve done something wrong there’.”
Encouraged by her dad, the McDonald’s worker performed Kelly Clarkson’s Piece By Piece.
“That was the perfect song for your voice,” Louis Walsh reviewed after the audition.
Simon Cowell joked: “What are all the nerves about?!”
He added: “For the first time, I’ve never listened to the lyrics like I just have listened with you. I listened to every word and I think you’re very sincere.
“I get the lack of confidence but it’s your thing to make happen or not.”
With four yeses, Rebecca’s confidence took a much needed boost as she headed to bootcamp.
Elsewhere in Rebecca’s audition show, we met 32-year-old Talia Dean who revealed to the panel she previously had a chance encounter with both Sharon and Nicole during her job, and said the pair encouraged her to audition.
Samuel Sheperd caught the judges’ eye as he walked into the auditions room in heels. “I wear them when I perform,” he says before singing KC and The Sunshine Band’s Boogie Shoes.
Meanwhile, groups going before the panel included New Dynamixx, made up of Izzy, Codie, Charlotte, Jake and Von’Jai, while Jedward met Justin Bieber in the form of Pretty Boy Karma, made up of 19-year-old twins Philip and Achilles originally from Athens, Greece.
The X Factor 2017 airs Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV.
