X Factor 2017 contestant Grace Davies has dismissed ‘fix’ claims following her audition.

Yes, just days into the series, some are already claiming it’s all rigged.

Grace was a stand out auditionee from the weekend but rumours have suggested she’s already got a record deal.

Dismissing the suggestion, Grace hit back on ITV’s Lorraine earlier today: “I did release an EP when I was 18 but it was self-released! I have never ever had a record contract. I wrote all of the songs on there when I was 16, turning 17. Then I organised for a band to come to a local studio to record the music with me.

“I didn’t have a manager or a record label. But I posted the clips on the internet in the hope that my friends and family would share them.

“I have never been signed to a record label in my life. That’s why I’m on X Factor!”

Grace also played down her links to former X Factor contestant Olly Murs, who it’s said she had previously performed with.

She told how the pair had an impromptu duet after he invited her on stage at a gig.

“When he was on stage singing, he pulled me up from the audience saying, ‘Come on, Gracie!'” Grace explained, “So I just went up there with a mojito in one hand and a microphone in the other, thinking, ‘What is happening?’

“It was such an amazing, off-the-cuff moment. Apparently, there’s a video of it on the internet.”

Grace arrived at The X Factor auditions on Saturday with her own song and told Dermot O’Leary she was “ready-ish” for her audition.

“The one thing I love to do in life is perform and I think that’s where I’m happiest. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do,” Grace said.

In the audition room, Grace performed an original song called Roots which impacted Nicole Scherzinger, who was left emotional.

With four yeses from all the judges, Grace sailed through to the bootcamp stages of this year’s competition.

Bookies have already installed Grace as the early favourite too.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “We’ve only seen one set of auditions, but the early signs suggest the rest of the competition have it all to do if they’re to knock Grace off top spot in the market.”

Of course, in reality we’ve still got a LONG way to go yet, with auditions just beginning…

The X Factor 2017 auditions continue next Saturday and Sunday on ITV.
