Ed Sheeran takes over The X Factor 2017 tonight as his songs prove a favourite with auditionees.

But the judges quickly get bored of Ed’s tracks.

A string of contestants decide to sing the chart topper’s latest songs, with Shape Of You a particularly popular choice.

One acts says: “I want to be exactly like Ed Sheeran.”

Another declares: “He’s an inspiration to ginger people.”

But many acts struggle to impress judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne with their performances.

However some do get a more positive reaction by adding a little more to their auditions.

Elisangela Mahogany shocks the judges with her audition as she bursts into a cover of Shape Of You.

The Sinitta look-a-like personal trainer whips off a black overcoat to unveil a very revealing two piece outfit.

After the performance, Simon reacts: “Oh my God. Do you have a second song, third song, fourth song…”

Another audition involving Ed Sheeran tracks that impresses comes from Jack (22) and Joel (22). The pair of pals are a singing duo from London who met while studying at Oxford University.

The pair, who previously performed together in an a capella group, sing a Ed Sheeran Medley for the judges.

“We just want to excite the judges and give it all we got,” they tell the judges.

Jack and Joel go on to to perform their Ed mash up which includes vocals, guitar and beat boxing.

“You’re like a breath of fresh air,” Louis tells the pair, “Two people coming in, being honest, full of personality, full of likeability and talent – it was fantastic.”

“If I was 22 and you were a band I’d have you up on my wall. I have the hots for you,” Nicole flirts.

The auditions then return Sunday at 8PM.
