In the wake of the BBC gender pay gap scandal, Simon has revealed that the the women X Factor stars usually get paid more than the men.
Without revealing just how much the girls are paid, Simon told The Sun that Nicole and Sharon were both getting more than Louis for the current series.
“For once this is good news. Victory. Yeah, they definitely are. I just don’t tell Louis," he said.
Simon quipped: "He’s got enough money for a bum implant so he shouldn’t be complaining.”
And the music mogul added: “If they get the money, it doesn’t matter to me whether you’re a boy or a girl. But I would say we’ve probably paid girls more money than guys over the years.”
Simon went on to comment on the recent BBC scandal where it was revealed just who was being paid what.
The stats revealed an apparent 'gender imbalance' with many claiming that the figures proved men on TV and Radio were getting paid more than women for the same work.
“It was a good thing for everyone who is being underpaid," Simon said. “I don’t think the BBC are a bad organisation who deliberately try to make these things happen. But it was definitely an imbalance, and if I was in that situation I would correct it immediately.
“The truth is, in showbusiness normal circumstances, you are paid by your worth and that’s just the way it goes.
“It was hugely embarrassing but if they publish again in a few years you’ll find a rebalance. Deservedly so. You can’t live in that day and age now.”
The X Factor airs on ITV on Saturday and Sunday nights.
