The Price is Right returns to TV tonight with Alan Carr

The Price is Right channel 4

The Price is Right is returning for a TV comeback tonight - with Alan Carr hosting.

The hit game show sees contestants guess the price of household items and first began in the US in the 1950s.

Channel 4 is working on a revival of the series, which used to be fronted by the late Sir Bruce Forsyth on ITV.

It has confirmed a one-off pilot will be aired this Christmas with Alan fronting the show.

The Price is Right with Alan Carr start time

The Price is Right will air tonight, Saturday 30th December at 8PM on Channel 4.

Alan Carr said: “I'm so excited to be the new host of The Price is Right. It's proper bucket list territory for me as I loved it when I was growing up and now for me to be at the helm of such a legendary show is a dream come true. It just leaves me with one thing to say ... COME ON DOWN!”

"Packed with amazing prizes and hysterical pricing games, this is set to be a classic Christmas entertainment extravaganza," Channel 4 added.

The one-off pilot has been commissioned with a view of a full series as well as celebrity spin-offs.

Alan continued: "When I was there on the set, it actually felt quite emotional for me, seeing all the games like Plinko, and Cliffhanger. It was funny how much they’d stuck in my head.

"It was a no-brainer for me, and like I said at the time, it was proper bucket-list stuff. It was something I’d watched as a kid growing up, with Bruce Forsyth and Leslie Crowther. So when they asked if I wanted to do it, I jumped at the chance."

As well as The Price Is Right, Alan will also be on Channel 4 this month hosting a Chatty Man Christmas Special and a New Year Specstacular.

Alan said: The New Year’s Specstacular is just party central. We’ve got music and special guests, madness, mayhem, your favourite celebrities getting trolleyed. People winning prizes, funny sketches, it’s just chaos.

"Basically, we’re just doing what people are doing at home – having a house party. I don’t really know how to describe the show. It’s indescribable."
