The X Factor 2017 is back this evening and from the judges to the start time tonight, here’s all you need to know.
What time is The X Factor on TV tonight?
The X Factor 2017 is back on TV tonight after launching at the start of September.
This evening sees the first half of judges houses, featuring the Overs and Girls, airing at 8:20PM on Saturday, October 21. You can see tonight’s X Factor 2017 contestants and songs here.
The show continues on Sunday at the earlier time of 7PM with the Groups and Boys.
Who are new The X Factor 2017 judges?
Simon Cowell previously said he hoped to keep the same judges as last year for this autumn’s series and that’s gone to plan.
Simon returns alongside Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger as The X Factor 2017 judges. This year is the first time since between 2008 and 2010 that the panel has remained the same between series.
But wait, there’s more! Alesha Dixon appeared as a guest judge on The X Factor 2017.
The current Britain’s Got Talent judge will be stepping in for Nicole Scherzinger at auditions in Manchester and also replacing Sharon at try-outs in Edinburgh.
What are new The X Factor 2017 judges’ categories for 2017?
This year the judges were again given their categories before the Six Chair Challenge which filmed back in July.
The contestants were gathered for the announcement at London’s Wembley Arena before they performed for the panel.
This series, Simon has got the Groups, Nicole has the Overs, Sharon returns to the show with the Girls and Louis is back with the Boys.
Meanwhile, Dermot O’Leary is back too!
No surprise here after signing a mega contract last year: Dermot is back to front the main show.
He started filming the try outs earlier this year before reuniting with the judges at the room auditions.
But Xtra Factor has been AXED
Wondering where Xtra Factor is on ITV2? We don’t need to wonder who’s hosting the Xtra Factor this year because the show is gone.
Yup, after more than a decade, the Xtra Factor – last year hosted by Rylan Clark-Neal and Matt Edmondson – won’t air on ITV2 this year with a new online format replacing it.
A source said: “It’s nothing to do with Rylan and Matt. They did a great job and if the show was continuing on TV they would definitely be returning.
“It’s just about the nature of how people consume TV now.”
How The X Factor works this year
For The X Factor 2017 there are a few changes to the format. The contestants start off in the room auditions as last year but they’ll then go forward to arena auditions at bootcamp.
There, the hopefuls will perform for the judges and live audience at Wembley Arena. Those that impress at the bootcamp arena auditions will go on to make the six chair challenge.
From there it’s to judges’ houses and, finally, the live shows!
