The biggest and best TV moments of the week get their weekly grilling from Britain’s sharpest armchair critics as Gogglebox returns for a brand new series this evening.

In the first episode of the series the Goggleboxers check out The Wine Show, All Together Now, Troy: Fall of a City, Theresa May on This Morning, 24 Hours in Police Custody, 24 Hours in A&E, The Job Interview and the News.

However there will be some familiar faces absent from the show.

Original series Goggleboxer Chris Steed won’t be returning after leaving the show, following his split from on screen partner Stephen Webb. Stephen will continue, now sitting alongside his mum.

A source told The Sun: “It will be interesting to see if Stephen works as well with his mum as he did with Chris.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 confirmed: “Chris has decided to pursue other opportunities but we want to thank him for his fantastic contributions across ten series.”

Gogglebox star June Bernicoff also won’t be returning to the sofa, following the tragic death of her husband Leon last December.

Leon and June were among the most popular cast members of the Channel 4 TV review programme, having joined when it began in 2013.

However, fans were devastated last year when it was announced that Leon had passed away aged 83, after a short illness.

June previously confirmed that she will not be returning to Gogglebox without her beloved husband.

Writing on her Twitter page last month, she said that her “adventure” had reached its “finale”.

When one of her followers asked if she would do the show with one of her daughters instead, she replied: “It was a great adventure with a great finale with the NTA.”

June was referring to January’s National Television Awards, where Gogglebox won the Factual Entertainment gong.

The trophy was accepted by sisters Ellie and Izzi Warner, who dedicated it to Leon and June.
