The “genre busting” new show is called called Armchair Detectives and will air this year on BBC One Daytime across twenty, 45 minute episodes.

The programme, which combines a murder mystery drama with a gameshow, will transport three players and viewers at home to the fictional town of Mortcliff where a dastardly crime has been committed. Their task – to discover whodunnit?

The BBC say: “The show is a play along and immersive investigation that can be enjoyed every step of the way.

“Like any good quiz, crime is crammed with titillating reveals, but as the drama unfolds, more suspects and clues will come to light. With their critical thinking put to the test will players and viewers be able to identify the killer?”

Susan, who will be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, said: “I’m so excited to be presenting Armchair Detectives for BBC One Daytime. I love a TV crime drama and now I get to help the British public and the contestants in the studio solve one! I can’t wait to get started and get solving!”

Dan McGolpin, BBC Controller Daytime and Programming, said: “We all love to escape into a good murder mystery story and Armchair Detectives is an innovative new series that will allow us to play along like never before, testing our powers of deduction against three talented studio contestants.”

Jo Street, Commissioning Editor BBC Daytime and Early-Peak, added: “As soon as the team pitched Armchair Detectives to me I knew we had to have this show.

“It’s an ambitious and innovative idea from an infectiously creative team – the clever mix of drama and quiz hits just the right tone for our audience.”
