Rylan Clark-Neal's new ITV game show Babushka launched to 2 million viewers last night.
There was much controversy last week when it was revealed tea time favourite The Chase would be taking a month off in May for Rylan Clark-Neal's new game show, Babushka.
Babushka's first episode averaged 1.98 million viewers yesterday evening, down around a million on the average of The Chase's last week of episodes. The lower rating saw BBC One's Pointless takeover as the favourite show in the 5PM hour with over 4 million viewers.
Although down on what The Chase has been getting recently, Babushka is actually up around 600,000 viewers on what The Chase averaged in its first series back in 2009.
Furthermore, the show increased in viewers throughout, rising from 1.8 million to 2.1 million across the hour.
Later on on ITV last night and Little Boy Blue - a drama based on the real life shocking murder of 11-year-old Rhys Jones - continued with 5.1 million viewers, 200,000 down on last Monday's opener.
In the latest soap ratings, Coronation Street averaged 6.1 million and 6.3 million viewers for its latest pair of episodes, making it the most watched show of the day. Emmerdale had 5.5 million viewers, the same figure that Eastenders managed.
