Rylan Clark-Neal has quit Twitter following abuse over his new game show.

In what is quite the bizarre story, Rylan seemingly left the social networking website after attacks from fans of ITV game show The Chase.

It followed news that the tea time favouirte was being replaced for May by Rylan's new programme Babushka.

Rylan was quoted as tweeting before deactivating his Twitter feed yesterday: "Getting a bit ridiculous now, Just doing my job. Enjoy the show. Coming off here for a while."

Stars of The Chase were quick to defend Rylan with Anne Hegerty‏ posting: "Rylan hasn't done ANYTHING to deserve this except front a new gameshow we haven't even see yet. Give him a chance."

And Mark Labbett posted: "Bloody hell! @Rylan has left Twitter thanks to all the abuse about @babushka and @thechase"

Rylan's actions come after he insisted he "couldn't give a f**k" about online trolls.

In an interview with DigitalSpy, he said: "At the end of the day, I'm still here and I'm doing well for myself. I've bought my first house – no, actually, I built my first house from scratch! How many people can say that?

"I'm proud of what I've done and what I'm doing."

He added: "To be honest, people don't usually give me a hard time on Twitter. When I'm on live TV, I mess up all the time, but the reason I get away with it is because I never cover it up.

"If I f**k up, I'll just say. The worst thing you can do is try to hide it. I just blame my veneers!"
