The new series of First Dates is back tonight on Channel 4 with its latest series and more singletons looking for love.

Tonight, Fred Sirieix and the team welcome hopeful daters to the First Dates restaurant for the fifth episode of the twelfth series.

MaƮtre d' Fred helps calm the single souls who are nervously hoping to find their special one - but who are tonight's singletons?

Those looking for love in this week's episode include 23-year-old make-up artist Melina, for who life is all about family. Coming from a traditional Greek background, she has struggled to find a man who will accept that if they are dating her, they're dating her whole family.

Fortunately, her date, 24-year-old Antony, shares her strong family values and dreams of a big fat Greek wedding. However, before a single plate gets smashed, there is a bump in the road when it's discovered that they were friends as teenagers.

Vincent is a 26-year-old microbiologist who wants to meet a ginger-haired man who can match his intellectual conversation. So when redhead fellow-microbiologist, Ben, steps into the restaurant it looks like a match made in a science heaven.

But how will Ben react when Vincent reveals he is a secret arachnid aficionado and would like to take Ben home to meet his large collection of deadly eight-legged friends?

Meanwhile, Fifty-two-year-old Elaine has a job that will bring a tear to anyone's eye: intimate waxing. However, despite plenty of male clients, she finds herself living alone with her cats.

Her date is ice-cream man Mark, who is hoping he can go from Mr Whippy to Mr Right. After some large scoops of laughter, things look promising, but Mark gets himself into trouble by taking his flirtation a step too far and proposing at the table.

First Dates 2019 airs at 10PM tonight (June 11) on Channel 4.

You can watch past episodes online for free via the All4 Hub.

Meanwhile, a TV boardgame based on the show has been released.
