After being forced to commute together in a supermaket Car Share scheme, assistant manager John Redmond (Peter Kay) and promotions assistant Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson) now find themselves, reluctantly, having to make the daily commute to work separately.
Since moving in with her sister, Kayleigh is now traveling on her own to work - but will she manage to resist temptation or will she call her old Car Share buddy John?
Peter said: "It was an absolute joy to be back in the car again as after the first series everything was much more familiar.
"Also the weather was particularly kind to us, we had plenty of sunshine and only had one days of rain which is pretty rare in the north west of England."
The new series kicked off last month month before all four new episodes were made available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.
Within three days of going online, all of the episodes have occupied the top four slots of requested programmes on BBC iPlayer and amassed over 2.5 million requests in total.
In addition, following a triumphant return to BBC One with 6.5 million people tuning in to episode one last Tueday, a further 1.5 million have watched on repeat.
Peter Kay said, “All we wanted to do is make happy television and it seems viewers are enjoying the happiness that Car Share is offering.”
