The Nightly Show goes off air for three minutes in embarrassing technical glitch

ITV goes off air for three minutes during The Nightly Show technical glitch

The Nightly Show suffered further embarrassment tonight when ITV was hit by a technical glitch during Gordon Ramsay's first episode.

The Kitchen Nightmares chef began his week hosting the beleaguered entertainment show with guests Frank Skinner and Ricky Wilson.

Part one saw Gordon appear to shred his hand in a malfunctioning blender, only for the seemingly horrific accident to be revealed as a prank aided by magician Ben Hanlin (don't try that one at home).

But there was a real mishap when the show returned from its ad break, only to be cut off by a technical glitch.

A second of a promo for sponsor Amazon Echo was seen before the broadcast cut to the message pictured above.

A test card then briefly flashed up, before the error notice returned accompanied by holding music.

Meanwhile, an announcer reassured viewers: "We're sorry for the distruption to your programme this evening.

"We will return you as soon as possible."

The Nightly Show was off air for over three minutes before the issue was finally resolved, and it continued airing as normal.

The chat show has been met with a mixed response from viewers - and some couldn't resist taking to Twitter to poke fun at the malfunction.

An ITV spokesperson said: "Due to a technical problem ITV was off air for just over three minutes during transmission of The Nightly Show.

"We apologise to viewers for this disruption."

The Nightly Show continues every weeknight at 10.00pm on ITV.
