Ant and Dec will join forces with Dermot O'Leary for The Nightly Show next week.

The trio of TV presenting legends will be the latest names on ITV's new week night chat show, as it struggles in the ratings.

The latest viewing figures - with current guest host Davina MCall - saw numbers drop to just a million viewers on Tuesday night.

Wednesday's ratings were up slightly on Tuesday's record low for the series but still 400,000 viewers down on last Wednesday's episode with John Bishop.

Davina continues in charge tonight before Dermot O'Leary takes over on Monday for the show's fourth of eight planned weeks on air.

Dermot hosts the fourth week of live shows which promise a high tempo mixture of topical monologue, studio games, celebrity guests, stand up and VT’s. The Nightly Show is a host a week, a show a day, a laugh a minute and is recorded ‘as live’ each day.

The Sun reports that joining Dermot on the series next week will be Ant and Dec.

They're the latest names confirmed as hosts with Gordon Ramsay also lined up in the future.

Former Bake Off hosts Mel & Sue had been tipped to be a part of the series as well but recent rumours suggest schedule clashes would now make their appearance unlikely.

The Nightly Show continues weekdays (Monday to Friday) at 10pm on ITV
