The Chase's Mark Labbett has rubbished claims that the ITV game show is fixed.

Chaser Mark - aka The Beast - said he'd happily take on a Jeremy Kyle lie detector to prove it.

He told the Daily Express newspaper that everything was genuine, amid claims that some viewers just "caught up in the excitement" of the show.

Mark told the publication: "I have never thrown a question, let alone a show and would happily be strapped up to one of Jeremy Kyle’s lie detectors."

"Social media is great for people’s immediate gut reactions but not for a more considered opinion. My guess is that people get caught up in the excitement of the final chase and it boils over."

Meanwhile, while he currently remains as a chaser on the ITV series, Mark revealed recently he'd be up for more TV work amid rumours of an appearance in Celebrity Big Brother.

"As a working minor celeb I will consider any show if the fee is right," he confessed candidly to the Metro newspaper. "Five years ago, I was earning £100 a day as a supply teacher so I always keep my eye on the important things in life.

"If I went on CBB, the isolation would be my biggest problem - with my job I am a news and information junkie and I am always reading or web surfing info, so I would probably suffer withdrawal symptoms from the digital world."

For now, The Chase continues weeknights at 5PM on ITV.
