Singer Sam Callahan has become the victim of a "brutal" assault supposedly because of his time on The X Factor.
Sam, who made the X Factor live shows in 2013, was left hospitalised after being set upon on a night out.
He was left with bruising and a deep cut to his head which went down to the skull.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper about the attack, Sam revealed: "I went out for my friends 21st birthday in Reading, and we started talking to some girls while we were out and they came and sat on our table.
"It was going well until these guys started making comments and stuff like 'there's that p**** from X Factor.'"
He continued: "A female bouncer came over to us and asked if everything was alright, she asked what was going on and I said 'I don't know, I think they've taken umbrage to myself because of the job I do, and because I'm in the public eye'."
Sam says he was followed by the boys when leaving and club where he was attacked the group.
Despite the apparent X Factor motivation, Sam told the newspaper: "In hindsight, I think it might have been a mixture of that and also because they probably fancied the girls that we had on our table."
He also explained why he hadn't reported the attack to the police, saying: "By the next morning I couldn't tell you for the life of me what they looked like – I think that was down to the alcohol consumed, rather than the cut to the head.
"There were no cameras there either, so I felt like I would be wasting police time."
