Matt Terry has revealed he'd have auditioned for Gary Barlow's Let It Shine had he not made The X Factor's live shows.
Matt triumphed in last year's final, beating Saara Aalto in the final two to win a record deal with RCA Records.
But Matt also has a past in musical theatre and admitted he'd probably have auditioned for BBC One's Let It Shine had The X Factor not worked out.
Former X Factor judge Gary's show is on the hunt for five guys to play a band in a new musical based on the songs of Take That.
"In fact if I hadn't have done The X Factor I hopefully would have had the opportunity to go on to Let It Shine," Matt said.
He wouldn't be drawn on which show is better, adding: "I think any of the talent shows are incredible, The Voice, Let It Shine, Britain's Got Talent... it's just great - giving people that platform and that chance to really succeed in something that they love."
Meanwhile speaking to BANG Showbiz (via the Daily Mirror), Matt revealed he had turned down a role in West End show Les Misérables
"I got offered to be in Les Mis in the West End that was really cool," Matt explained.
He added: "I'd love to, it's just finding the time because I felt this year I don't really have the time, maybe next year I'll get to do it for a month or so."
