Mel and Sue and Davina McCall are among the stars that will follow David Walliams in hosting The Nightly Show on ITV, a report claims.

The broadcaster is gearing up to launch its new late-night entertainment offering, which has been described as a cross between Saturday Night Takeaway and The Late Late Show with James Corden.

It will feature different big name presenters every week, and The Mirror has revealed who some of them could be.

Top of the list are Mel and Sue. The paper claims the show will be one of their first major gigs since leaving The Great British Bake Off.

Also rumoured is Davina McCall, who is currently working on the new series of Channel 4's The Jump.

Other potential guest hosts include chef Gordon Ramsay and comedian John Bishop.

ITV has yet to officially announce a full line-up for the show. However, it was previously confirmed that Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams will be its first frontman.

The Nightly Show is ITV's attempt to emulate The Late Late Show, which has become an internet hit thanks to its Carpool Karaoke segment.

Bosses are reportedly working on their own running segments, in the hope they'll also go viral.

The variety format will air every weeknight at 10.00pm for eight weeks. As a result, the News at Ten will move to 10.30pm throughout its run.

Episodes will be recorded 'as live' at a central London studio at 6.00pm on the day of their transmission.

The Nightly Show is due to begin on ITV next month.
