The X Factor 2017 judges are set to stay the same as last year, if all goes to plan.

2016 saw Simon Cowell joined on the panel by Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh in the latest shake up to the show.

The judges line up on The X Factor hasn't stayed the same for more than a year since between 2008 and 2010 when Simon and Louis were joined by Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole.

But - if Simon gets his way - Sharon, Louis and Nicole will all be back next series.

The X Factor boss previously confirmed he hoped the panel would remain the same in 2017.

"They have been a breeze, I’ve really enjoyed working with them," said Simon, who remarked he wanted to keep the current panel "forever".

“They are fun, we go out for dinner together. When you’ve done this a number of years then of course you have your favourites, it’s not like it used to be," Simon told The Sun newspaper. “We enjoy each others’ company, they are very nice people. I would keep them forever. I mean, Louis may only have five years left."

While nothing has been confirmed about the X Factor 2017 judges just yet, Nicole last month thanked the UK for an "amazing season" with a "triumphant ending" after winning with Matt Terry, and teased she WILL be back for "next years madness".

Nicole wrote: Thankyou #london. Thankyou #uk for such an amazing season. We did it! And what a triumphant ending! I'll miss you! Until next years madness, have a beautiful and fun-awe-menal holiday season"

As for the other judges, Irish music mogul Louis Walsh has already announced he'll be sticking firmly in his seat after leaving it for the first time ever last year.

Speaking ahead of last series' final, Louis declared: "Yes, I'm back next year. I've signed for the next two years."

Sharon's return is also on the cards, despite US work commitments.

“Sharon looks like she is returning to the X Factor, and has been telling people that it is a done deal," a source told the Daily Mirror newspaper.

They added of her supposed £2 million deal: “She will film the auditions in the summer, and then jet to and from London for the live shows."

Meanwhile, host Dermot O'Leary has also confirmed he'll definitely be back in 2017 having signed a multi-year deal with ITV.

The X Factor will return to ITV in the autumn of 2017.

X Factor 2017 auditions are open now.
