A new Gypsy based show dubbed 'Travellers Got Talent' is set to air later this year after a six-figure deal was reportedly signed by an as yet unnamed channel. The deal will see the annual talent hunt within the gypsy community, won last year by 15-year-old winner Olivia Ayres, televised for the first time.
The deal follows on from the success of hit Channel 4 show 'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings', which saw more than 8 million viewers tuning in during the five-part series earlier this year. A spin off, 'My Big Fat Royal Gypsy Wedding', will air on April 28 on the channel.
This new talent show, which will be based on the Britain's Got Talent format, will follow performers as they battle it out in five heats across the country, with the top three acts from each competing in a final in London in July. The judges will include a famous singer and a record producer, according to the Daily Star.
Promoter Jake Bowers told the newspaper: “This series will reveal a community that has survived by entertaining others for over a thousand years.”
