The future of hit E4 show Skins could well be in doubt after its writer and co-creator left the show following a sharp decline in its ratings. The teen drama was originally a huge hit for the digital channel when it first launched back in 2007, however now the series finds itself being out-rated by repeats of Friends.
Writer and co-creator Jamie Brittain said: "It's time for new writers to come forward and portray their truth about teenagers."
He added: "Sad to go, but don't worry, it's in very good hands."
The show has lost nearly half its audience since the cast change at the beginning of the current series, which introduced viewers to the third generation of characters on the programme. Despite the decline in ratings however a sixth series has already been commissioned and will air next year.
Skins' future after Series 6, however, looks bleak...
