Leigh Francis's Keith Lemon character replaces Vernon Kay on Sing If You Can!

Sing If You Can

It must be bad enough getting cut from a primetime show before it airs, but it must be even worse when you find out your replacement isn't even a real person! It was revealed today that Vernon Kay has been axed as host of new ITV1 programme Sing If You Can, replaced by Keith Lemon.

The character, alter ego of comedian Leigh Francis, already hosts popular ITV2 show Celebrity Juice. Stacey Solomon will continue on the show as co-host.

The move comes after two programmes of the new show have already been filmed, with Vernon and Stacey hosting. Keith Lemon - originally planned on being a guest judge on the show - will front the programme from this Friday for the latest show recording in London.

According to Broadcast Now the move comes after ITV bosses decided that the new format, due to start on the channel next month, would be better suited with a comic as a presenter than Vernon.

Sing If You Can is expected to start on ITV1 on Saturday, April 16.
