BBC’s hit surveillance thriller The Capture is almost back.

After more than a year away, we just got our first glimpse at series three – the broadcaster unveiled a punchy 20-second teaser directly after The Night Manager’s latest episode, giving us a taste of what’s to come.

This new series picks up 12 months after Rachel Carey, played by Holliday Grainger, shocked the nation by airing a deepfake of a government minister on live TV.

Watch the trailer below…

That drama exposed the shady government video manipulation programme known as Correction – and nothing in British intelligence has felt quite the same since.

Now, Carey has a new job: Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command. She’s intent on rebuilding the public’s trust in tech with a new surveillance system called Operation Veritas.

But stability shatters fast when a devastating, well-planned terror attack rocks the political core of the UK, leaving Carey facing the aftermath and a single witness.

As Carey digs deeper into her investigation, she finds herself tangled in a web that pulls in the political establishment, the security services and the media.

Even as she tries to follow the truth, the conspiracy only seems to tighten its grip, testing her judgement and trust in those around her.

As old faces return, so do plenty of fresh ones.

We’ll see Paapa Essiedu return as politician Isaac Turner, alongside Indira Varma, Ben Miles, Lia Williams, Ginny Holder, Nigel Lindsay and Ron Perlman.

New cast members include Killian Scott, Joe Dempsie, Andrew Buchan, Hugh Quarshie and Amanda Drew. Tessa Wong, Daisy Waterstone and Andy Nyman are also reprising their roles.

We won’t have long to wait for answers – The Capture series three lands on BBC iPlayer and BBC One this spring.

If you want to catch up or dive in for the first time, the first two series are returning to BBC iPlayer from Friday 13 February.
