RATINGS! EastEnders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Not Going Out and more viewing figures

eastenders kat return

Two dramatic episodes of EastEnders were watched by more than 5 million viewers last night.

A two-part special saw the return of Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace) to Albert Square.

5.8 million tuned in for the first episode of the evening at 7:30PM while 5 million watched the later 9PM instalment.

EastEnders was bettered by the ITV soaps, with Emmerdale's two episodes both attracting 6 million viewers. Coronation Street was the most watched, with 6.3 million tuning in yesterday (Thursday, March 22).

Elsewhere, Not Going Out continued on BBC One last night with 3.1 million viewers, airing 30 minutes earlier than usual at 8:30PM.

In the latest series, Not Going Out sees Lee (Lee Mack) and Lucy (Sally Bretton) living in the anarchy of a packed family house with kids Charlie and twin siblings, Benji and Molly.

As if children weren’t enough to keep the couple crashing from one near-disaster to the next, factor in lovably feckless father, Frank (Bobby Ball), close friends in the form of the world-weary, or more specifically wife-weary, Toby (Hugh Dennis) and uptight ice-queen Anna (Abigail Cruttenden), plus Lucy’s parents Geoffrey (Geoffrey Whitehead) and Wendy (Deborah Grant).

Staying on BBC One, MasterChef continued with 4 million viewers, 200,000 below last week, while Still Game had 2.5 million viewers for its latest episode at 9:30PM on BBC One.

Across on ITV, special documentary Martin Luther King, fronted by Trevor McDonald, had just over 1.5 million viewers.
