Channel 5 soap Home And Away is set to take its' annual summer break this July, but don't despair as digital sister channel 5* are set to air classic episodes from the start.
The Australian soap will take a 5 week hiatus from July 27 but as a treat to viewers, the broadcaster will air a selection of viewers' favourite episodes from the shows' near 25 year history.
The special 'Home And Away: From Day One' feature will launch on digital channel 5* on Monday, June 30 with the feature-length pilot. Two episodes from each year will air as part of a double bill every night until the show returns to Channel 5 on Monday, September 3. The episodes will air at 6pm on 5* every night.
In addition, a third episode which has been shortlisted but was not chosen by viewers will be made available on the Channel 5 website, where viewers can vote for their favourite episode from the shortlist.
Greg Barnett, commissioning editor for entertainment, drama and soaps said: ''Home and Away is as good now as it was when it started - as winning the 'Best Daytime Soap' at last year's Inside Soap Awards proves. This is a fantastic opportunity for viewers to remember some of the classic moments from almost 25 years on air and to bring lapsed viewers slap bang up to date with the latest stories. It's unmissable TV."
Ray Meagher, who has played Alf Stewart since the show started added: "Channel 5 is offering UK viewers a real treat this summer. All the classic episodes are here and many of the first appearances from some of the current key cast including Marilyn, Irene, Morag and a slightly younger Alf."
