Amy Wyatt's wayward mother to join 'Emmerdale' later this year!

Emmerdale teen Amy Wyatt (Chelsea Halfpenny) is set to get a shock later this year when she comes face to face with her mum!

Actress Laura Norton is set to join the show as her wayward mother Kerry Wyatt who was heartbroken when the young girl was taken into foster care. And in an upcoming episode, Amy will bump into her unreliable parent as she celebrates her 18th birthday!

The chance encounter comes about when Amy flirts with a mystery man, only to discover that he is actually the boyfriend of her mother! And hoping to build bridges, Kerry turns up in the village the following day fighting to get back in contact with her daughter.

Speaking about her role, actress Norton said: ''I am delighted to have been given this role. Emmerdale has always been my favourite soap and it's a joy and privilege to be joining the team. Kerry is an amazing and unpredictable, appealing character and I will have a lot of fun getting to grips with her.''

"I have met up with Chelsea who plays Amy and I can't wait to play her reckless mum." Meanwhile, series producer Stuart Blackburn added: ''Laura is a fantastic actor and it's a delight to welcome her to the show. Her character Kerry is sure to liven things up for Amy, Val, Eric and everyone who crosses her path."

Laura has previously appeared on ITV1 detective drama series Vera. She will begin filming in June and Kerry's first scenes will air in Mid-July.
