Patsy Palmer and Lindsay Coulson have decided to take a break from BBC1 soap Eastenders, it has been revealed today.
Palmer who plays Bianca Butcher on the show and her on-screen mother Carol Branning will both depart screens for an extended break whilst their actresses take time off. Patsy is alleged to be taking six months off the soap to spend time with her four children, the youngest of which is just 16 months.
Meanwhile, Coulson will also take a break over summer as her character Carol takes time away from Walford. It is reported that Bianca will leave at the end of the month after a blazing row with her mother sees Carol take her grandchildren away from their mother to live with her in the countryside.
An insider revealed that the storyline where Bianca falls out with Carol ''is sure to break people's hearts as they realise just how close to the edge she is". Recent months have seen Bianca struggling with money problems in the wake of husband Ricky's (Sid Owen's) departure from the square and she will soon be seen stealing food for her family and having a run-in with a loan shark.
A spokeswoman for the show confirmed that both characters will return later in 2012.
